We know – the hype around the Lord of the Rings movies is over and by now every fan around the world has seen the extended versions a hundred times. But these original wallpapers are made in a tribute not to the films, but to the immortal book by JRR Tolkien. Read and loved by millions or people over the past 50 years, the trilogy – which in fact originally was planned to be published as one massive book – has spellbound readers with its highly dramatic and epic story. The Lord of the Rings is also a work heavily laden with symbolism as the beauty of nature is pitted against the destructive nature of industrialism and urbanism.
As we all know, the story features numerous great characters, locations and plots, which in turn have influenced subsequent fantasy writing and filmmaking to a great extent. As far as we know, this website is the only place that offers cell phone wallpapers that bear the names of the fellowship of the nine – Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas and Boromir. Their respective weapons, such as Frodo’s short sword Sting and Boromir’s shield, as well as a background image that is relevant to their origins are also featured in the pictures.
We felt that no range of fantasy images are complete without some pictures themed around the world of The Lord of the Rings, so therefore we produced these twelve images for you all.
